SoCon Announces Volleyball Postseason Awards

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Allie Sweet and Connore' Siler-Nixon from the UNC Greensboro (UNCG) volleyball team have been named to The Southern Conference (SoCon) All-Conference teams, announced on Wednesday ahead of the 2025 SoCon Tournament.
 
Sweet was named to the All-Conference First Team, while Siler-Nixon was selected to the SoCon All-Freshman Team.
 
This marks Sweets' second consecutive season being named to the All-SoCon First Team and fourth career SoCon postseason award as she was also tabbed SoCon Freshman of the Year and to the All-Freshman Team last season.
 
Sweet picked up two SoCon weekly mentions this season, marking four in her career as she was named SoCon Offensive Player of the Week on Sept. 1 and Sept. 15. The sophomore currently leads the SoCon in attacks per set (12.49), kills per set (4.32), points (519.0), points per set (4.94), total attacks (1,311) and total kills (454). Her 519.0 points this season puts her at 12th nationally, while her 454 kills ranks her at 15th in the country. In addition, the Woodstock, Georgia, native has posted 16 double-doubles this season, marking 21 in her career. She leads the team in kills and service aces and is second on the squad in digs.
 
The All-Freshman Team nod for Siler-Nixon marks her first career postseason award.
 
Siler-Nixon collected her first career weekly honor back on Oct. 6 when she was named SoCon Offensive Player of the Week. She leads the Spartans with 92.0 total blocks this season and is seventh overall in the conference. In addition, she is fourth on the squad with 165 total kills. The Odessa, Florida, native has achieved a match-best six blocks on five occasions this season. In addition, she recorded a career-best 16 kills at Western Carolina on Oct. 4.

The No. 5 Spartans will face No. 4 Chattanooga in the Quarterfinal round of the SoCon Tournament on Friday at 10:30 a.m. at the Harrah's Cherokee Center in Asheville, North Carolina.
