GREENSBORO, N.C. – The No. 11 ranked UNC Greensboro (UNCG) men's soccer team will host South Carolina Saturday at 7:00 p.m. at UNCG Soccer Stadium. The Gamecocks come into Greensboro on a three-game win streak, while the Spartans hold a 14-game home unbeaten streak in the regular season. 

 
SERIES HISTORY VS SOUTH CAROLINA 
South Carolina holds a 2-0-1 advantage over UNCG, with the last matchup being in 2015 ending in a 1-2 loss, in Columbia.  
 
ABOUT THE SPARTANS 

• The Spartans concluded the 2024 season 10-2-5 overall and 3-1-1 in the Southern Conference and a shared Regular Season Title. 

• The squad boasts 11 returners from last season and nine seniors heading into this season. 

• The Spartans were voted first in the 2025 SoCon Preseason Coaches' Poll, earning four out of the total six first-place votes and totaling 24 points. 

• The Spartans enter this matchup having a 14-game home unbeaten streak during the regular season. Last time UNCG lost at home in the regular season was to the then-ranked No. 4 West Virginia on Sept 26, 2023.  

• The Spartans are currently ranked 11th in the nation by the United Coaches Poll and 19th in the TopDrawer Soccer Poll. 

• UNCG is sitting third in the United Soccer Coaches South Region Poll and is one of three non-ACC schools in the rankings. 

• Enzo Dovlo was named SoCon Offensive Player of the Week for week one of the season with five goals and one assist after the first two games played.  

• Dovlo leads the nation in goals (6) and points (16) while also being ranked fourth in assists with four after three weeks.  

• Sami Lachekar was named SoCon Defensive Player of the Week for week two after clocking in 180 minutes of action with one goal in two games played. 

• Steven Hernandez was named SoCon Offensive Player of the Week for week three after two goals and the game-winning goal as time expired in the 4-3 win over Dayton, last Saturday. 

• The Spartans boast four players that have scored two or more goals this season and have 11 players that have scored points this season.  

• UNCG has scored four out of its 16 total goals from set pieces. 

• The Spartans boast one of the best offenses in the nation. Ranking top 10 in scoring offense (3.20), total goals (16), total points (45), shots on goal (7.20) and points per game (9.00). 

SCOUTING SOUTH CAROLINA 

• South Carolina went 10-5-2 last year while going 5-4 in Sun Belt Conference play.  

• Head Coach Tony Anan enters his fifth season at the helm going 30-33-11 in his time there. 

• The Gamecocks are 1-1 on away games this season. 

• South Carolina was picked to finish fifth in the Sun Belt by the 2025 Sun Belt Preseason Coaches' Poll. 

• The Gamecocks rank seventh in the nation in total goals, 12th in total points and 17th in assists. 

• Tyler Trimnal was named the Sun Belt Offensive Player of the Week on Sept. 9. 

• Yvan Malarte was named the Sun Belt Defensive Player of the Week on Sept. 9. 

• Ethan Ballek paces the Gamecocks in goals (4), assists (3), points (11) and shots (19).
