Men’s Soccer On The Road Against Elon and ETSU

GREENSBORO, N.C. – No. 17 ranked UNC Greensboro (UNCG) men's soccer team will go on the road to take Elon at Rudd Field on Tuesday with kick off slated for 7:00 p.m. The Spartans will then travel once again on Saturday to start The Southern Conference play as they take on ETSU on Saturday.

SERIES HISTORY VS ELON 
This matchup dates back to 1975 with UNCG holding a 14-8-2 advantage over Elon in its history. The last five games played, the Spartans are 4-1 with a plus five goal differential over the Phoenix.  

SERIES HISTORY VS ETSU  

The matchup between the Spartans and the Buccaneers is even with a split of 8-8-6. The last game played between the two SoCon rivals was in 2024 where UNCG won 3-2 on Nov. 2.  
 
ABOUT THE SPARTANS  

  • The Spartans concluded the 2024 season 10-2-5 overall and 3-1-1 in SoCon and a shared Regular Season Title. 

  • The squad boasts 11 returners from last season and nine seniors heading into this season.  

  • The Spartans were voted first in the 2025 SoCon Preseason Coaches' Poll, earning four out of the six first-place votes and totaling 24 points.  

  • The Spartans are currently ranked 17th in the nation by the United Coaches Poll. UNCG is sitting third in the United Soccer Coaches South Region Poll and is one of three non-ACC schools in the rankings.  

  • Enzo Dovlo was named SoCon Offensive Player of the Week for week one of the season with five goals and one assist after the first two games played.   

  • Dovlo is tenth in the nation in goals (10) and seventh in the nation in points (18) while also being ranked 33rd in assists with four.   

  • Arnaud Tattevin is second on the team in goals with five while also having two assists on the season.  

  • Sami Lachekar was named SoCon Defensive Player of the Week for week two after clocking in 180 minutes of action with one goal in two games played.  

  • Steven Hernandez was named SoCon Offensive Player of the Week for week three and week five. Hernandez is the first Spartan to have two Offensive Player of the Week awards in the same season since Dovlo last year in 2024. 

  • The Spartans boast 14 players that have scored points for the team this season.  

  • UNCG has scored six out of its 23 total goals from set pieces.  

  • The Spartans boast one of the best offenses in the nation and are ranked 4th in scoring offense (2.88), 13th total goals (23),18th total points (66), 25th shots on goal (6.75), ninth points per game (8.25) and 25th in total assists (20).  

SCOUTING ELON  

  • Elon went 10-7-1 last year while going 6-2-0 in the Coastal Athletic Association (CAA).  

  • Head Coach Mark Reeves enters his 15th season at the helm going 133-98-39 in his time there.  

  • Elon boasts the seventh best shutout percentage (.667) and save percentage (.885) in the nation. 

  • The Phoenix also is tied for fourth in the nation in teams' goals against average at .333.  

  • The Phoenix is led in scoring by Dominik Renz with three goals and one assist.  

  • Martin Kozak leads the team in assists with three.  

  • Senior Jackson Leavitt commands the team between the posts, starting all nine games this season and making 21 saves. 

  • Elon is currently undefeated at home this season with a 3-0-2 record at Rudd Field this season.  

SCOUTING ETSU 

  • ETSU went 5-7-5 overall last year, while going 3-1-1 in the SoCon, making it to the Championship game but ultimately falling to Furman. 

  • ETSU was slated to finish fifth in the 2025 SoCon Preseason Coaches' Poll. 

  • The Buccaneers are led by Head Coach Allen Vital, who enters his second year at the helm. 

  • ETSU is led in scoring by Jamie Carrillo who has two goals on the season. 

  • Emil Goldberg has started all seven games as the goalkeeper so far this season.  

  • ETSU is 0-2 against Quad one opponents this season with a negative three goal differential against those teams.  

  • The Buccaneers take on Virginia Tech at home on Monday before welcoming the visiting Spartans on Saturday.
