RALEIGH, N.C. – The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) women's tennis team fell in a matchup with the N.C. State Wolfpack on Sunday afternoon, 7-0, at the J.W. Isenhour Tennis Center.
The Wolfpack secured the doubles point after notching all three doubles games with 6-0 scores. Gabriella Broadfoot and Victoria Osuigwe defeated
Sophia Cedenoa and
Lauren Thomson on court one, 6-0. Jasmine Conway and Anna Zyryanova secured the doubles point with a 6-0 win over
Sara Kostic and
Sofia Somoano on court two. Mia Slama and Lavinia Tanasie were able to round out all three doubles games for N.C. State with a 6-0 victory over
Sydney Bly and
Ivet Sala-Sánchez.
N.C. State kept its momentum going by earning all six singles games to secure the 7-0 victory. Slama defeated Cedeno on court one, 6-0, 6-0, to put the Wolfpack up 2-0. Zyryanova notched a 6-2, 6-1, win over Bly on court four. Broadfoot recorded the match-clinching point for N.C. State with a 6-1, 6-3 win over Kostic on court two. Tanasie went on to defeat Thomson, 6-0, 6-2, at singles No. 3.
Kayley Bushnell fell in a 6-0, 6-1, matchup with Osuigwe on court five. Freshman Sala-Sànchez secured the most set points for the Spartans in the match, but came up short at singles No. 6 against Conway, 6-0, 6-4.
