WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) women's tennis team dropped a 7-0 contest with in-state foe Wake Forest on Friday evening at the Wake Forest Tennis Center.
Krystal Blanch and Evie Oxford notched the first doubles game with a 6-1 win over
Sofia Somoano and
Sara Kostic on court two. Sankavi Gownder and Jingyi Li went on to defeat
Kayley Bushnell and
Sydney Bly, 6-2, securing the doubles point for the Demon Deacons.
Sophia Cedeno and
Lauren Thomson recorded the most doubles points for UNCG, but fell to Nevena Carton and Kady Tannenbaum at doubles No. 1, 3-6.
Wake Forest went on to claim all six singles matches to secure the 7-0 win. Blanch bested Kostic, 6-0, 6-1, on court two. Olexa fell to Li, 0-6, 2-6, on court six before Gownder earned the match-clinching point for Wake Forest at singles No. 5, 6-0, 6-0. Oxford went on to claim the fifth point for the Demon Deacons in a 6-2, 6-0, win over Bly on court four. Cedeno fell to Carton, 2-6, 2-6, on court one before Thomson tallied the most singles points for the Spartans in a 4-6, 2-6, loss to Heidi Bulger at singles No. 3.

UNCG's next couple matches have been postponed due to inclement weather. The Spartans are now scheduled to take on the Davidson Wildcats on Sunday, Feb. 8 at 3:00 p.m. at the Davidson Tennis Courts.
