SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) volleyball team dropped its contest against Wofford on Saturday in The Southern Conference (SoCon) action, 3-0 (21-25, 17-25, 22-25) in Jerry Richardson Indoor Stadium.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Set 1 – Wofford built an early lead, but UNCG stayed within reach. The Spartans closed the gap to 22-20 on a kill by
Allie Sweet and pulled within two again at 23-21. The Terriers took the next two points to claim the set, 25-21.
Set 2 – UNCG kept the score close early before Wofford created separation midway through the set. The Spartans trimmed the margin with a
Kendall Lanclos service ace, but the Terriers held on to take the frame, 25-17.
Set 3 – The Spartans opened with a 3-0 run and led 10-7 before Wofford rallied to tie the set at 11. The Terriers moved ahead, but UNCG battled back to 23-22. Wofford closed out the match with the final two points, 25-22.
BY THE NUMBERS
- Sweet recorded her 32nd career double-double and ninth of the season after leading UNCG with 13 kills and 12 digs, while adding two blocks.
- Lanclos recorded six kills, four digs and two service aces.
- Hailey Clifton also had six kills, hitting .455.
- Izora Gragg paced the Spartans with 19 assists.
- Freshman Molly Scott Cottrell set career highs with four attacks, two blocks and one solo block.
