HOW IT HAPPENED
UNCG set the tone from the opening tip, as Neal began the game with a layup and
Vernon Collins Jr. followed with a dunk to begin an 18-0 run. Milligan got on the board with 14:06 left in the first half. The Buffs put together a 6-0 stretch to make it 21-6, but Fitch answered with a free throw and the Spartans soon pushed their lead back out. Grant scored inside, while Greer and Mishak added threes. UNCG led 37-13 after Grant's layup with five minutes left in the half and went into the break ahead 47-21.
The Spartans carried that momentum into the second half. Neal,
Vernon Collins Jr., Mani and Grant scored on four consecutive possessions to extend the lead to 55-21. Milligan answered with baskets from William Robinson, but Greer's free throws and a Fitch layup restored UNCG's cushion. The Spartans continued to find scoring from across the lineup, reaching 76-35 on Greer's three-pointer with 7:18 remaining. UNCG kept adding to the lead and finished with a 96-43 victory.
