GREENSBORO, N.C. – The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) men's basketball team will continue The Southern Conference (SoCon) slate by hosting VMI on Wednesday at 7:00 p.m. before welcoming Wofford on Saturday at 5:00 p.m., both inside Bodford Arena.
UNCG has the overall series advantage against the Keydets, 27-11. The Spartans defeated VMI, 85-78, in Lexington, Virginia, on Jan. 20.
Wofford has the edge in the series, 34-24. The Terriers claimed the most recent meeting on Jan. 7, 97-85, in Spartanburg, South Carolina.

LAST TIME OUT FOR THE SPARTANS
- UNCG is on a two-game win streak after defeating Western Carolina inside of Bodford Arena last Wednesday, 81-78, and then edging Furman, 67-64, in Greenville on Sunday.
- Against the Catamounts, Justin Neely's 25 points and 11 rebounds paced the game for his 15th double-double and 22nd of his career.
- Nineteen of Neely's 25 points came from free throws, for the most made free throws since joining the SoCon in 1996-97.
- Lilian Marville was second on the team with 14 points, while Noah Norgaard had 12 points.
- In a tight battle against the Paladins, Neely once again registered a double-double, registering 24 points and 13 rebounds.
- Donald Whitehead Jr. and Norgaard each chipped in 11 points.
SCOUTING THE SPARTANS
- UNCG comes into the week with a 10-15 overall record and 6-6 mark in the SoCon tying for fifth place in the conference standings.
- The Spartans are pacing the SoCon in three point percentage (35.6).
- They are second in free throws made per game (16.8) and free throw attempts per game (24.2).
- Neely leads the conference in three categories, including: double-doubles (16), rebounds (295), defensive rebounds per game (9.12) and rebounds per game (11.8).
- The graduate student is nationally ranked in: rebounds (295/1st), defensive rebounds per game (9.12/1st), rebounds per game (11.8/2nd), double-doubles (16/2nd), free throws (156/4th), free throw attempts (200/5th)and points (430/75th).
- Neely recorded a career-best 22 rebounds against VMI on Jan. 21. According to UNCG records, the last time a Spartan collected 20 or more rebounds in a single game was James Dickey on March 15, 2020, when he recorded 20 boards against Mercer. Neely's 22 rebounds are the most in a single game in UNCG's Division I era.
- Neely now joins elite company with 20 or more boards in a single game: Tom Nelson (27), Bruce (25), Kyle Hines (21) and Dickey (20).
- Neely (17.2), KJ Younger (14.0) and Whitehead Jr. (11.3) round out the Spartans averaging double-figure points.
- Neely (2.7) and Whitehead Jr. (2.6) are leading the team in assists per game.
- Valentino Pinedo is leading the Spartans with 22 blocks this season.
- Neely was voted SoCon Player of the Week twice this season, with the latest being on Feb. 9, following back-to-back double-doubles in SoCon play.
- The Miami Beach, Florida, native was also named Lou Henson National Player of the Week on Monday.
- The 2025-26 roster features three returners and 11 newcomers.
- Six of the 14 student-athletes are international, which is the largest international class under fifth-year Head Coach Mike Jones.
- The 2024-25 season was the eighth year out of nine with 20 or more wins for the Spartans after going 20-12 overall and 13-5 in the SoCon.
- Coach Mike Jones achieved his third year out of four winning 20 or more games last season with the Spartans.
SCOUTING THE KEYDETS
- The Keydets were voted to finish sixth in the 2025-26 SoCon Preseason Coaches' Poll.
- Rickey Bradley Jr. was voted to the 2025-26 Preseason All-Conference Team.
- VMI has lost the past 10 games, with the most recent being an 87-70 loss to ETSU on Saturday.
- The Keydets defeated Chattanooga, 79-71, on Jan. 3 in Lexington for VMI's first league win of the season.
- TJ Johnson is leading the team with 18.4 points per game and 7.0 rebounds per game.
- Tan Yildizoglu paces the team with 4.3 assists per game.
- VMI is leading the SoCon with 32.7 three point attempts per game and 10.8 three pointers per game.
- Johnson is nationally ranked the top five of three categories: three point attempts (238/1st), three pointers per game (3.58/5th) and total three point field goals made (86/5th).
SCOUTING THE TERRIERS
- Wofford was voted to finish ninth in the 2025-26 SoCon Preseason Coaches' Poll.
- The Terriers are also coming off two-straight wins, similar to the Spartans.
- Wofford is scheduled to play Samford before coming to Greensboro.
- Kahmare Holmes is leading the team with 19.0 points per game, while Nils Machowski is second with 16.7 points per game.
- Holmes is also leading the team with 5.7 rebounds per game and 2.1 steals per game.
- Brian Sumpter paces the team with 1.5 blocks per game, while Cayden Vasko averages 4.1 assists per game.
- Wofford has the edge over its opponents in points per game (78.7-75.3), three pointers per game (9.1-7.8), free throws per game (15.8-14.6), assists per game (14.2-12.9) and points off turnovers per game (13.2-11.1).
- The Terriers concluded the 2024-25 season 19-16 overall and 10-8 in the SoCon.
- They won the 2025 SoCon Championship, defeating No. 5 Furman, 92-85, and received their sixth bid to the NCAA Tournament. The Terriers fell to No. 2 Tennessee, 77-62, in the first round.

- On Saturday, Nov. 8, Fleming Gymnasium, home to UNCG volleyball, women's basketball and men's basketball was renamed to Bodford Arena.
- This historic moment for the department was made possible through a transformational $2 million gift from the Bodford family.
- This generous support represents the largest unrestricted gift in the history of UNCG Athletics, as well as the first associated with naming a competitive athletic facility.
- The University is already familiar with the Bodford name - the Bodford Family Speed, Strength & Conditioning Center was dedicated in October 2020.
