Khrystyuk Earns Key Win, Men’s Tennis Falls to ETSU, 5-2

JOHNSON CITY, TENN. - The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) men's tennis team dropped its Southern Conference (SoCon) matchup against No. 68 ETSU, 5-2, on Wednesday afternoon at Dave Mullins Tennis Complex. Tymofiy Khrystyuk downed SoCon Preseason Player of the Year Oscar Martinez in singles, snapping his undefeated record of 10-0 record.  
     
The Bucs secured the first point of the day after collecting all three doubles matches. James Sim and Juan Listo defeated Khrystyuk and Eric Lindemann, 7-5, on court two. Martin Vegara and Oscar Martinez handled Devon Moskowitz and John Gabelic, 6-4, on court one. Hector Nissen and William Elmers fell to Arenui Luethi and Peter Kalocsai, 6-0, on court three.  

In singles play, Carlos Gonzalez took down Andrew Black, 6-0, 6-2, on court six.  Kai Cowcher continued ETSU's momentum defeating Nissen, 6-2, 6-1, on court four. Down 3-0, Khrystyuk took on a huge match against Martinez, where the Spartan came from behind for a 4-6, 6-3, 6-2, victory on court one. However, the Buccaneers secured the match when Gabelic lost to Vegara, 6-7, 6-7, on court two.Moskowitz fell to Kalocsai, 5-7, 1-6, on court three. Elmers rallied on court five besting Luethi, 4-6, 7-5, 6-3, to bring the match to the final score of 5-2.
