Men’s Tennis Secures 4-3 Win Over Wofford

SPARTANBURG, S.C. - The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) men's tennis team defeated The Southern Conference (SoCon) foe Wofford, 4-3, at Reeves Tennis Center on Sunday afternoon. John Gabelic secured the match with the winning point on court three. This is the first time UNCG has defeated Wofford in back-to-back years since 2016 to 2018.

The Terriers secured the first point of the day after collecting all three doubles matches. Jack Deveny and Valemar Dubin defeated Devon Moskowitz and Gabelic, 6-0, on court one. Tymofiy Khrystyuk and Eric Lindemann lost to Ian Rasheed and Daniel Clivio, 6-7, on court three to secure the doubles point for Wofford. Finally, Hector Nissen and William Elmers were bested by Hugo Rask and Julian Brager-Carlsen, 6-7, on court two. 

However in singles play the Spartans got off to a roaring start, with Khrystyuk defeating Parker Mariencheck, 6-4, 7-6, on court one. Moskowitz handled business on court three with a 6-1, 7-5 victory over Clivio to give the Spartans the 2-1 lead. Nissen expanded on the lead when he bested Brager-Carlsen, 6-4, 6-1, on court four. However, the Terriers rallied back with Dubin taking the match over Elmers, 7-6, 6-2, on court five. Jack Burrell tied up the match, 3-3, after taking down Lindemann, 6-2, 6-2, on court six to set up the clinching point on court two. Gabelic was able to secure the match win for the Spartans as he defeated Deveney, 6-3, 3-6, 6-3, for the 4-3 win.
