BUIES CREEK, N.C.- The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) men's tennis team defeated in-state opponent Campbell, 4-3, at Nisbet Tennis Center on Tuesday afternoon.
John Gabelic secured both his singles and doubles matches to pace the Spartans on the day.
The Spartans secured the first point of the day after collecting two-of-three doubles matches.
Devon Moskowitz and Gabelic defeated Alex Fraggasso and Max Hamon, 6-2, on court one.
Tymofiy Khrystyuk and
Eric Lindemann secured the doubles point with the 6-3 win over Matias Lofink and Ethan Richardson on court three. Thomas Drapeau and Aleksandar Hudjec upended
William Elmers and
Hector Nissen, 7-6, on court two.
Singles saw UNCG fall quickly behind with Khrystyuk losing to Drapeau 3-6, 1-6, on court one and Moskowitz losing 4-6, 1-6 to Hudjec on court three. The Spartans tied the match back up at two apiece with Nissen falling Lofink, 6-4, 7-5, on court four. UNCG then retook the lead with Gabelic fending off Fragasso, 4-6, 6-4, 6-3, on court two. However, the Camels equalized with Richardson besting
Lars Frafjord, 1-6, 6-4, 6-3, on court six. Elmers secured the match for the Spartans with his victory over Hamon, 4-6, 7-6, 6-2, on court five for the 4-3 win.
