GREENSBORO, N.C. – The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) men's tennis team dropped its first Southern Conference (SoCon) game of the season to Furman, 4-3, on Wednesday afternoon at the UNCG Tennis Courts.
The Paladins secured the first point of the day after collecting all three doubles matches. John Gabelic and Devon Moskowitz had their five game-doubles win streak broken by Nicolas Dispas and Nico Snyder, 4-6, on court one. Court three saw Lars Frafjord and Tymofiy Khrystyuk downed by Alex Han and Finn Pollard, 2-6. Furman's Evan Duggal and Landon Ecarma bested Hector Nissen and William Elmers, 6-2, on court two to complete the sweep.
Furman's momentum carried over into singles as Duggal took down Nissen, 6-4, 6-1, on court four to extend the 2-0 lead. The Paladins added another point thanks to Ecarma's, 6-3, 6-4, win over Eric Lindemann. However, the Spartans rallied back on courts one and two as Khrystyuk defeated Snyder, 7-6, 2-6, 6-0, and Gabelic bested Theophile Joly, 6-4, 1-6, 6-4, to bring the score to 2-3. The comeback attempt was cut short as Elmers lost to Walker Allen, 3-6, 6-3, 3-6, on court five. Moskowitz put away Dispas, 6-3, 3-6, 7-6, to bring the match to the final score of 4-3.
