SCOUTING THE SPARTANS
- UNCG comes into the week 1-9 overall on the 2026 season.
- The Spartans most recently secured their first win of the season, shutting out Converse, 7-0, on Sunday at the UNCG Tennis Courts.
- The team opened The Southern Conference (SoCon) slate on Saturday, falling to ETSU, 6-1, at the UNCG Tennis Courts.
- Kayley Bushnell picked up her first collegiate win in the match against the Bucs, defeating Niyati Kukreti, 4-6, 6-4, 6-3 at singles No. 5.
- This will be the fifth ACC opponent the Spartans will face this season.
- Sara Kostic and Ivet Sala-Sánchez are pacing the Spartans with three singles wins apiece this season.
- Bushnell and Sofia Somoano are following closely behind with two wins each.
- Doubles teams Sophia Cedeno & Kostic and Sala-Sánchez & Bushnell are leading the Spartans with two doubles wins each.
- UNCG competed in four tournaments in the 2025 fall slate.
- The Spartans concluded the 2025 regular season 3-18 overall and 0-7 in the SoCon.
- Lauren Thomson finished on top for the Spartans in singles for the second consecutive year after tallying eight wins on the 2025 campaign.
- Sydney Bly led the team last season with nine total doubles wins.
- Head Coach Mat Iandolo is in his second season at the helm of the UNCG women's tennis program.
SCOUTING THE TAR HEELS
- UNC comes into Thursday's matchup 14-1 overall and 3-0 in the ACC.
- The Tar Heels are on a six-match win streak after taking down SMU, 4-2, on Sunday in Dallas, Texas.
- UNC's lone loss this season was against No. 10 Ohio State, 4-2, on Feb. 7.
- Reese Brantmeier is pacing the Tar Heels with an 18-0 singles record this season.
- Thea Rabman is following closely behind with 17 singles wins on the season.
- Oby Kajuri and Susanna Maltby are pacing the doubles matches for North Carolina this season at 16-5 overall.
- Head Coach Brian Kalbas is in his 23rd season at the helm of the North Carolina women's tennis program.
- Kalbas is the winningest active coach in the nation and third all-time.
