GREENSBORO, N.C. – The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) men's tennis team dropped its final game of the five-game homestand to Gardner-Webb, 5-2, on Monday afternoon at the UNCG Tennis Courts. John Gabelic went 2-0 on the day.
The Runnin' Bulldogs secured the first point of the day after collecting two of the three doubles matches. Adam Patry and Noah Zeiger defeated William Elmers and Hector Nissen, 6-4, on court two. Court three saw Tymofiy Khrystiuk and Lars Frafjord fall to Alexandre Bergeron and Johan Van Wijk, 5-7. Top duo Gabelic and Devon Moskowitz rallied on court one to go on and defeat Boyd Schreiber and Kaua Cressoni, 7-6.
In singles play, Alan Trbonja tied up the score on court six after Adam Patry retired due to injury after one set of action. Sammy Presser was bested by Van Wijk, 6-1, 6-1, on court five to make it 2-1 Gardner-Webb. Zeiger upended Andrew Black, 7-5, 6-1, on court four. Nissen was beaten by Cressoni, 2-6, 6-1, 2-6, on court three to secure the match for Gardner-Webb. Moskowitz was also defeated on court two by Schreiber, 6-7, 1-6. Gabelic was able to end the match on a high note taking down No. 1 singles Beregeron, 6-2, 2-6, 6-4, to bring the match to a 5-2 final score.
