GREENSBORO, N.C. - The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) baseball team fell in game three of the series against The Southern Conference (SoCon) foe Samford, 14–1, at UNCG Baseball Stadium on Sunday afternoon. Brantley Truitt went 2-for-3 on the day to lead the Spartans on the offensive end.
Samford jumped out to the early 3-0 lead in the first inning after a leadoff double and three-straight singles. The Bulldogs continued that momentum as they pushed across one run inboth the third and fourth frames for a 5-0 lead.
Samford broke the game open in the top of the fifth as they put together a rally of five runs with five hits to put the score at 10-0. The UNCG offense woke up in the bottom of the sixth, as a Jake Mueller walk and Truitt single put runners on first and third with one out. Tanner Berry stepped to the dish and scored Mueller for his 25th RBI of the season, 10-1. Samford responded with four runs in the top of the seventh to extend its lead to 14-1. The Spartans were sat down one-two-three to end the game at 14-1.
