Women's Golf Finishes Third in SoCon Championships; Best Finish Since 2013

COLUMBIA, S.C. – The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) women's golf team finished in third place on Wednesday at The 2026 Southern Conference (SoCon) Championships at Columbia Country Club in Blythewood, South Carolina. 
 
The Spartans' third-place finish was the best in a conference tournament since the 2013 SoCon Championship, when UNCG finished third with a final score of 903. 

Julia Baeumken's shared fifth place finish is the best since 2013 when Fanny Cnops tied for third place. Baeumken's three round score of 74-78-71 (222) is the best by an individual since 2019's Sammie Buchanan's 75-74-70 (219). 

TEAM    

  • The Spartans finished in third place at 46-over-par (910) after posting rounds of 299-310-301. 

  • UNCG finished three strokes ahead of Samford (913) and 14 strokes behind second-place Chattanooga (896).  

  •  Furman won the title for the second straight year with a 30-over-par (894) after rounds of 289-304-301. 

  • The Blue & Gold finished first in the Championships in par fives with a stroke average of 4.97. 

INDIVIDUAL 

  • Baeumken closed out her final collegiate tournament with a tie for fifth at seven-over-par (223) after carding rounds of 74-78-71. 

  • Junior Kasey McIlvaine was second on the Spartans and tied for 11th at 10-over-par (226). McIlvaine finished second in the field with a 2.92 stroke average on par threes.  

  • Lulu Leethem followed behind in a tie for 21st place with a 17-over-par (233) behind rounds of 78-77-78. She paced the tournament in par five stroke average with 4.67.  

  • Sophomore Sophie Lauture finished in 25th place with a 18-over-par (234) with rounds of 77-78-79.  

  • Elle Burnette played rounds one and three with a six-over-par (150) with rounds of 76-74.  

  • Chanelle Mwangi competed in round two and finished the day with a 79. She did not compete in round three.  

  • Furman's Audrey Ryu won her second consecutive individual title at two-under-par (214).
