GREENSBORO, N.C. – The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) women's tennis team fell to Triad foe Elon Wednesday afternoon, 5-0, in its home finale at UNCG Tennis Courts.
Elon took a 1-0 advantage after collecting all three doubles matches. Simone Bergeron and Mariana Reding defeated
Lauren Thomson and
Sydney Bly at doubles No. 1, 6-4. Alexis Nyborg and Madison Cordisco secured the doubles point for the Phoenix in a 6-3 victory over
Sophia Cedeno and
Ivet Sala-Sánchez on court two, 6-3. Cornelia Kack and Lisa Kranec claimed the final doubles match in a 6-4 win over
Kayley Bushnell and
Sofia Somoano at doubles No. 3.
Nyborg gave Elon a 2-0 lead after defeating Bly at singles No. 4, 6-1, 6-4. Kack went on to claim a 6-3, 6-0, win over Cedeno on court one to make it 3-0 Elon. Bergeron clinched the match for the Phoenix in a 6-3, 7-5, win over Kostic at singles No. 2. Cordisco was able to tally the final point of the match after securing a 6-2, 6-2, win over Sala-Sánchez on court six, granting Elon with the 5-0 victory.
