Women’s Soccer to Begin 2026 Campaign Traveling to High Point, Hosting East Carolina

GREENSBORO, N.C. – The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) women's soccer team will begin its 2026 regular season campaign by traveling to High Point on Thursday at 7:00 p.m. and hosting East Carolina on Sunday at 6:00 p.m. at the UNCG Soccer Stadium.
 
The Sunday contest versus the Pirates will be the Spartans' senior night.

ABOUT THE SPARTANS
  • The Spartans concluded the 2025 season 4-12-3 overall and 2-4-3 in The Southern Conference (SoCon).
  • The Blue & Gold tallied five shutouts and scored 22 goals, which is the most since the 2022 season.
  • UNCG defeated No. 10 VMI, 2-0, in the first round of the 2025 SoCon Tournament but fell to second-seeded Western Carolina, 4-3 (OT), in the SoCon Quarterfinal round to conclude the season.
  • The Spartans began the 2026 season with two exhibitions, including at Virginia Tech and at Davidson.
  • The Spartans were voted to finish seventh in the 2026 SoCon Preseason Coaches' Poll, earning 43 points.
  • Senior midfielder Rina Ogimoto was named to the 2026 SoCon Preseason All-Conference Team, the league announced Monday.
  • Ogimoto started in all 19 games last season for the Blue & Gold with a total of 1,465 minutes. She notched a team-best six goals and 14 points, along with two assists, during the 2025 campaign.
  • The Spartans added nine newcomers to a roster of 18 returners.
ABOUT THE PANTHERS
  • High Point concluded the 2025 season 5-10-5 overall and 3-3-2 in the Big South, claiming the Conference Championship and eventually falling to Virginia in the NCAA Tournament.
  • High Point was voted on top of the Big South Preseason Women's Soccer Poll, receiving seven first-place votes.
  • Kari Powell was voted Big South Preseason Midfielder of the Year, while Powell, Sabba Haghgoo, Kasey Resker, Morgan Wilcox and Coryn McDonnell were selected to the Big South Top Returners to Watch List.
  • Wilcox is the top returner for the Panthers after she totaled seven points with three goals and one assist.
  • The Panthers added 10 new faces to the roster.
ABOUT THE PIRATES
  • The Pirates concluded the 2025 season 6-8-4 overall and 4-4-2 in the American.
  • ECU was voted to finish seventh on the American Preseason Coaches' Poll.
  • Caitlen-Star Dolan Doodram, Isabella Gutierrez and AJ Mayock were named to the 2026 American Conference Preseason Watch List.
  • ECU returns its top four players in terms of point production, including Dolan Boodram (15 pts), Gutierrez (10 pts), Mayock (8 pts) and Alyssa Tucker (7 pts).
