Lis Added to Softball Coaching Staff

GREENSBORO, N.C. – UNC Greensboro (UNCG) softball Head Coach Janelle Breneman announced the hiring of Jackie Lis to her coaching staff on Monday.

Lis joins the softball coaching staff with an extensive Division I playing background and experience in player development at the travel-ball and instructional levels.

"Jackie will add tremendous insight to our program," stated Breneman. "As a talented and versatile player in college and in the AUSL, she brings a wealth of experience and a true competitor's mindset. She analyzes and teaches hitting exceptionally well, and her love for competition will make an immediate impact on our student-athletes and program."

Lis was selected by the Texas Volts in the sixth round, with the second pick of the 2026 Athletes Unlimited Softball League (AUSL) College Draft. With 18 starts and 22 games played, Lis averaged .292 at the plate with a .424 on-base percentage and a .458 slugging percentage. She had two doubles, two home runs, eight RBI and 11 walks.  

Lis competed at Texas Tech University in 2025-26, where she earned a starting position with the nationally competitive Big 12 program and was named to the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) All-American Third Team, NFCA All-Central Region Second Team and All-Big 12 First Team. The Red Raiders finished as the 2026 Women's College World Series runner-up for the second-straight season, after falling to No. 2 Texas in early June. During the 2026 NCAA Tournament, Lis led Texas Tech with 16 RBI.

With the Red Raiders, Lis assisted the 2026 team to program records, including in wins (61), hits (679), runs (639), doubles (122) and home runs (145). The 2026 In the final NCAA Division I softball statistical rankings, Lis was 14th in RBI (75), 23rd in total bases (153), 27th in home runs (21) and 30th in slugging percentage (.874). Her career-best .417 batting average and 73 hits with the Red Raiders last season sat 67th among NCAA Division I final statistics.

Prior to Texas Tech, she was a standout student-athlete at Southern Illinois University from 2022–25. During her career with the Salukis, Lis was a three-time First Team All-Missouri Valley Conference selection, the Missouri Valley Conference Player of the Year as a sophomore, and the conference's Scholar-Athlete of the Year. She also earned Softball America Freshman All-America recognition, two NFCA All-Region selections, multiple MVC Player of the Week honors, and set several single-season and career offensive records, including home runs.

In addition to her collegiate experience, Lis competed for three summers with TC Colorado, a collegiate all-star roster that faced elite national and international competition. She participated in the Canada Cup international tournament, helping the program secure two runner-up finishes and a championship. Lis was also named the tournament's Batting Champion.

Lis has coached at the travel-ball level and has served as an instructor at Joe Lis Baseball School in Evansville, Indiana. In those roles, she has led private lessons and group instruction, helped athletes refine their hitting mechanics, and adapted instruction to support players across a range of ages and developmental levels. She has also assisted with practice planning, conditioning, game preparation, equipment management, and mentoring athletes in fundamentals, discipline, and in-game decision-making.

A native of Evansville, Indiana, Lis completed a Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting at Texas Tech University.
