GREENSBORO, N.C. – The No. 21-ranked UNC Greensboro (UNCG) men's soccer team (1-0-2) travels south for the side's first away match of the season on Tuesday, taking on the Davidson Wildcats (0-0-2) at Alumni Soccer Stadium. Kickoff is set for 7:00 p.m. on ESPN+.

While still unbeaten, Head Coach Chris Rich and the Spartans are aiming to return to the win column after consecutive draws with San Francisco (0-0) and West Virginia (1-1), tough opponents at home. The Wildcats are seeking a first win of 2026, having opened the season themselves with a pair of draws.

SERIES HISTORY VS. DAVIDSON
Tuesday will be the 30^th meeting all-time between the Spartans and Wildcats, UNCG, holding a 16-9-4 edge all-time.
 
2026 marks the fourth consecutive season the two teams will meet, a continuation of when the pair were opponents in The Southern Conference (SoCon). Last season saw the Blue & Gold claim a 3-1 win at UNCG Soccer Stadium, powered by first half strikes by Issah Haruna, Arnaud Tattevin, and Enzo Dovlo. It was also a contested affair, with nine yellow cards issued. 
 
SCOUTING THE WILDCATS
Head Coach Mike Babst's squad is off to a 0-0-2 start in his eighth season at the helm, having split results with Charleston (1-1) and Gardner-Webb (0-0), both on the road. Coming off of a 9-7-3 campaign in 2025, Davidson enters a pivotal non-conference stretch beginning on Tuesday night. 
 
Picked sixth in the Atlantic 10 preseason poll, the Wildcats are led by Preseason All-Conference goalkeeper Lucas Beltran, who along with a stingy back line has allowed just one goal and three shots on target in two games. Offensively, Babst's side has registered 24 shots but scored just once. The 'Cats have production to replace up front after losing 2025 leading scorer Myles Culley (seven goals, three assists), but they do return junior Brady McGlone (one goal, five assists). 
 
A statistic to know is Davidson's home/away splits from 2025; the Wildcats were lights out at Alumni Soccer Stadium (7-1-2), but just 2-6-1 on the road. 
 
SPARTANS IN THE POLLS
Following an unbeaten opening two weeks, UNCG is holding firm in the three major polls. TopDrawerSoccer has the Spartans 15^th, College Soccer News 19^th and the United Soccer Coaches' Poll places the Blue & Gold 21^st. 
 
DEFENSE OFF TO A SOLID START
Led by Preseason All-SoCon selections Seth Wilson and Mohammed Sumaila, the Spartans have kept opponents to just 0.67 goals per game with a shutout in the opening three matches. UNCG's primary back four of Mason Dancy (270), Trym Linberg (264), Bautista Schmidt (257), and Sumaila (246) are all top six in minutes played, while Wilson is the lone player other than Dancy to have seen action in every minute. The Spartans' netminder has produced 10 saves through three games when called upon. 

NEWCOMERS LEADING THE OFFENSE
Transfers Keaviano Francis, Filipe Matos, and Lasse Dahl have all keyed the attack for the Spartans through three games. Francis leads the team with two goals, finding the back of the net against West Virginia thanks to Dahl's first assist in Blue & Gold. Matos was the star in the 4-1 win over VCU, racking up a goal and assist while Francis also found the back of the net. Fellow transfers Tiago Campos and Bendix Bennetzen have also logged 200+ minutes in midfield through the start of the year. 

OFFENSIVE LEADERS
Francis leads the side in points (four) and goals (two), while Linberg's two assists remains the team high. Francis and Dahl (five) are tied for the lead in shots, Campos (four) just behind. Four Spartans have scored through three games, part of six total to have registered at least one point in 2026. 

UNCG IN THE NATIONAL STANDINGS
As the national landscape takes shape in the early part of the season, the Spartans find themselves in the top 40 among Division I sides:

• 26^th in save percentage (0.846), first in the SoCon.
• 31^st in GAA (0.67), first in the SoCon.
• 40^th in shot accuracy (0.520), second in the SoCon.
