GREENVILLE, N.C. – The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) women's golf team ended the first day of the Pirate Collegiate Classic in third place with a two-over-par (578) through two rounds on Monday at the Greenville Country Club. The Spartans are trailing NC State with an eight-under-par (568) and host ECU with a one-under-par (575). 
 
TEAM

• The Spartans opened with a three-over-par (291) opening round, good for fifth-best among the field. 
• The Blue & Gold rounded into form as Monday went on, combining to card the best second round of any team in the field at one-under-par (287). 
• UNCG was one of three teams in the field to post a round under-par. ECU scored nine-under-par (279) in the opening 18 holes and NC State followed with an eight-under-par (280) mark in round two.
• UNCG ranked second on par five holes on Monday with an average of 4.65.
• The Blue & Gold ended Day One fourth in both birdies (29) and pars (112). NC State and ECU paced all teams with 33 birdies through the first two rounds, while James Madison's 120 pars stands as the top mark. 

INDIVIDUAL

• Senior Kasey McIlvaine ended the first two rounds tied for fourth with an overall score of four-under-par (140). The senior was one of just four players to card both rounds under-par, shooting three-under-par (69) in round one and one-under-par (71) in round two. She leads all players on par four holes with an average of 3.90.
• McIlvaine potted an eagle on the 18^th hole of round one, partnered with three birdies for a 69 to begin the day. She added four more birdies on the front nine in round two. 
• Fellow senior Elle Burnette ended Monday tied for 10th, ending the day strong as one of four players to card a three-under-par (69) in the second round after posting a (one-over-par) 73 to open the day. Burnette holed five birdies over the last 18 holes to find herself at two-under-par (142) heading into round three. 
• Freshman Baker Hudson carded an overall score of three-over-par (147), posting rounds of 74-73 on the day. Currently tied for 26th, she notched three birdies during a six-hole stretch in the second round. 
• Fellow freshman Eva Brown ended the opening day tied for 37th with an overall score of six-over-par (150), shooting rounds of 75-75 on the day with seven birdies. Brown is currently tied for second on par five holes, with an average of 4.25.
• Rounding out UNCG's freshman trio, Wilma Siwers finished Monday tied for 49th. She responded well to a seven-over-par (79) opening round by shooting two-over-par (74) in the second frame for a total of nine-over-par (153).
