SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Freshman midfielder Malo Jungling of the UNC Greensboro (UNCG) men's soccer team has been named The Southern Conference (SoCon) Offensive Player of the Week, the league office announced on Tuesday afternoon. 

A freshman from Veckring, France, Jungling wasted no time making an impact for the Spartans in his first two games with the Blue & Gold. Making his UNCG debut as a substitute in the 36^th minute against South Florida on Sept. 15, Jungling scored his first collegiate goal in the 43^rd minute as the Spartans routed USF 5-0.

Against Liberty on Sept. 19, Jungling once again was instrumental off the bench. With UNCG trailing 1-0 coming out of the half, Jungling fired home from just outside the box in the 47^th minute to level the game. His equalizer paved the way for fellow freshman Mathis Robinand to score the winner in the 84^th minute, giving UNCG a 1-0-0 start to SoCon play this season. 

Overall, Jungling logged 81 minutes across his first two games for the Spartans, scoring both of his attempts for a perfect 1.000 shooting percentage over a 2-0-0 week for UNCG. The Frenchman is the fourth member of the Blue & Gold to record their first collegiate goal this season, along with Robinand, Mason Dancy, and Bautista Schmidt. 

"The team was very good all over the pitch from the beginning of the week, and especially on Saturday it was a pretty big fight for the win," Jungling said. "For my goals, they don't happen without two big assists from my teammates, so I have to say thank you to them."

He is the fifth Spartan to earn weekly recognition in 2026, continuing the trend of UNCG having a player recognized in all five award periods this season. Jungling is the third Offensive Player of the Week, joining Keaviano Francis (Sept. 1) and Caleb Borneo (Sept. 8), while Trym Linberg (Aug. 25) and Seth Wilson (Sept. 15) have earned Defensive recognition. Furman carries the second highest number of honorees, with two. 

UNCG is back on the road this Saturday, continuing SoCon play with a trip to Macon, Georgia, to take on Mercer. Kickoff from Betts Stadium is set for 7:00 p.m. and can be viewed on ESPN+.
