Five conference championships. A record GPA among UNCG student-athletes. All-time-high attendance at UNCG athletic events. These 2017-18 milestones are clear evidence that our student-athletes, coaches and athletic staff are committed to excellence. The time is right to build on these and other successes to claim our rightful place as a Southern Conference leader, and among our NCAA Division I national peers.

UNCG Athletics has mapped out a five-year plan to ensure that we continue to win championships, enhance the student-athlete experience, and retain and attract excellent coaches.

Our highest priorities include:

• Academic support and student development
• Strength and conditioning facilities
• Sports medicine and athletic training
• Fully leveraging basketball
• Support for coaching excellence

We are committed to providing UNCG student-athletes with modern physical facilities, talented coaches and dedicated staff, to win in the classroom, on the fields of play and in life. We ask much of our student-athletes, and now we must demonstrate our support to their success.

Now is our time. Now is our opportunity. In the last year we have surpassed 20,000 students for the first time. We have graduated more students than ever. We have built a level of enthusiasm on our campus, in our community, and among our fans and alumni that is unlike any in the past.

It is no coincidence that helping to fuel this momentum are athletic programs that delivered a record five conference championships – along with the highest ever GPA of 3.23 for student-athletes – last year. Success breeds success. Excellence begets more excellence. This is a special moment – and one we must seize together.

The Campaign for Champions and our first initiative, the “5 for 5,” will allow us to make significant and meaningful enhancements to UNCG’s student-athlete academic and support facilities, and to recruit and retain excellent, dedicated coaches.
