Terence Connelly joined the Spartan coaching contingency as a Volunteer Assistant Coach in July of 2020, spending his first season on the UNCG staff during the 2021 campaign.
"We're excited to have Terence Connelly join the UNCG Baseball staff," says Spartan Head Coach
Billy Godwin. "He brings Division I and pro experience to the program and will be a great asset and addition to the baseball program."
Spending the prior two seasons as an Assistant Coach and Recruiting Coordinator with Chipola College, Connelly helped lead the Indians to a Region VIII title in 2019 along with an appearance in the NJCAA World Series. During his time in Marianna, Fla., the new Spartan staff member coached infielder Daniel Cerda and outfielder Corey Rosier, both of which are committed to play for UNCG in 2021.
Connelly has multiple years of experience coaching at the developmental level, working with travel ball programs in both Florida and New York in addition to his experience at the college level.
Earning his Bachelor of Arts in Mathematics from the University of North Carolina-Wilmington, Connelly was an excellent player in his own right, getting drafted out of UNCW by the Arizona Diamondbacks in 2017. The Brooklyn-native finished his time in Wilmington as the program's all-time leader in games played (236) and hit by pitches (57), earning multiple All-CAA honors. He spent two years in the minors before moving on toward becoming a full time coach, batting .299 over 43 appearances in all.
