Sophomore Season (2008): Started in 29 of the 32 games that he played in during an injury plagued season ... was second on the team with 12 doubles despite missing 17 games in the middle of the season ... was tied for third on the team with a .299 batting average and was second on the team with a .462 slugging percentage ... scored 21 runs and had 12 RBI during the year ... went 8-15 with three doubles, four RBI and two runs against Furman in the final series of the season.
Freshman Season (2008): Started 28 of the 39 games that he played in for the year ... hit .267 on 27 hits in 101 at-bats ... recorded four RBI against The Citadel (4/19) after hitting a bases-clearing triple and a sacrifice fly ... hit a pinch-hit solo homerun against Princeton (3/15)...had 13 RBI and 17 runs for the season ... also hit five doubles and one homerun.
Summer Ball: Played the summer of 2008 for the Herndon Braves of the Cal Ripken, Sr. Collegiate Baseball League...played outfield for coach Chris Smith and was named to the all-star game for his efforts.
High School: 2007 graduate of Butler High School in Matthews, N.C. ... four-year letterwinner as a shortstop under coach Kim Cousar ... in 2007, the Bulldogs swept the conference regular season and went on to win the tournament championship ... in that same year, Gehringer was named all-conference and all-Mecklenburg.
