Freshman Season (2009): Made seven starts in 19 appearances as a true freshman ... went 3-1 with a 4.70 ERA on the season ... his ERA was second-best on the team and eighth-best in the SoCon ... in his 51 2/3 innings of work he struck out 43 batters and walked just 21 ... was fifth in the Southern Conference by holding opposing batters to a .259 average ... allowed one run or less in 12 of his 19 appearances ... picked up a no decision in his best start of the season against Furman (5/14) after going 7 1/3 innings and allowing only two hits and one earned run ... allowed just 53 hits during the season, which was the best in the SoCon ... struck out a season-best six batters after pitching 5 1/3 innings and giving up only one earned run in a no decision against Davidson (4/26).
Summer Ball: Pitched this past summer for coach Tom Fleenor and the Battle Creek Bombers in Battle Creek, Mich. where he helped lead his team to the most wins in franchise history.
High School: A four-year letterwinner at Morristown High School in Morristown, N.J. for coach Harry Shatel and coach Josh Ury ... was named all conference his last three years ... was also named all area once ... named to the Rawlings preseason all region team prior to his senior season ... as a sophomore he pitched in the state championship game.
Personal: Lawrence Matthew Parish II ... born January 6, 1990 in Morristown, N.J. ... son of Larry Parish and Bonnie Hicks ... has four siblings, Virginia, Dan, Storm and Victoria ... great grandfather, Billy Holm, played for the Red Sox and Cubs ... also recruited by College of Charleston, Florida International, Villanova and Western Carolina ... majoring in exercise and sports science at UNCG.
