Asad Lamot

Asad Lamot

Lamot, a former UNCG player, has spent the last three seasons with the Spartans as a graduate assistant manager, and as a director of player development. He excelled in a multitude of areas including skill development and on-campus recruiting.

In his new role, Lamot will manage team travel, meal planning, and academic support. In addition to his responsibilities, Lamot will spearhead all community service initiatives for the Spartan Men's Basketball team and organize team-building activities.

A fountain of inspiration, Lamot transferred to UNCG as a preferred walk-on at the start of his career before earning a scholarship his senior year and accumulating numerous team accolades including being named the defensive player of the year. He was selected by his peers as a captain for UNCG during the 2014-15 and 2015-16 seasons.

He was a member of the UNCG squad that competed in the College Basketball Invitational (CBI) in 2016. As a graduate assistant, Lamot contributed to a UNCG team that won a program-record 29 games and earned the No. 1-overall seed in the National Invitation Tournament (NIT) in the 2018-19 season.

During the pandemic-challenged 2020-21 season, Lamot was instrumental behind the scenes contributing many little things that helped UNCG win 21 games, the Southern Conference regular-season and tournament championships, and compete in the NCAA Tournament.

Before transferring to UNCG, Lamot was a two-year letter winner at Lees-McRae College where he played in 52 games and averaged 10 points and three assists per game. The Mebane, N.C. native graduated from UNCG in 2016 with a bachelor’s degree in business administration and his master's in Peace and Conflict Studies in 2020.
