Brooks Lee is in his second season as an assistant men’s basketball coach at UNC Greensboro. This past summer, Lee was promoted to the second assistant coach’s slot.
The son of former Campbell University head coach and current St. Andrews Presbyterian (NCAA Division II) coach Billy Lee, Brooks Lee spent the 2004-05 season at East Carolina as the Director of Basketball Operations after serving on Mike Young’s staff at Wofford as an assistant coach during the 2002-03 campaign.
"I have known Brooks for a long time," said UNCG head coach Mike Dement upon hiring Lee. "Obviously, I first met Brooks through his father, who has been a colleague for a number of years. I have followed Brooks’ career closely and he has always worked hard at everything he does. He is the product of a coach and, therefore, knows what it takes to maintain a successful program."
Lee graduated from Campbell, where he played for his father, in 2002 with a degree in sport management and completed work on his Master’s degree in exercise science. He averaged 9.7 points and 4.3 assists while starting all 26 games for the Camels as a senior. He was named to the Atlantic Sun All-Academic team. Lee placed second in the A-Sun with his team-best 87.9 free-throw percentage, which was also the second-best single-season percentage in Campbell history. At one point, he made 24 consecutive attempts at the charity stripe.
In just two seasons at Campbell, after transferring from High Point, Lee placed sixth on the Camels’ career list for assists with 254. He was also second in career average (4.8), while placing seventh all-time in three-point field-goal percentage (39.3).
In the 2001-02 campaign, Lee topped the Atlantic Sun in assists at 5.2 per contest. He started all 53 games over his final two seasons in Buies Creek.
In high school, Lee set school records for points, 3-point field goals and free-throw percentage. He was all-conference and played in the North Carolina East-West All-Star Game.
Lee is single and resides in Greensboro.
