C.J. Lee came to UNCG in August 2022 from nearby Wesleyan Christian Academy, where he served as the head boys basketball coach for the previous four years. While at Wesleyan Christian Academy, he helped student-athletes achieve their dreams of playing college basketball each of his four seasons.

"I'm thrilled to welcome C.J. to the staff," said Jones, "C.J. has a proven track record as a coach and mentor of young men. We are so proud and thankful for all that Asad Lamot brought to our program, helping us with our transition to UNCG, and are excited for him to get a chance to coach at the college level. We are excited for C.J.'s ability to connect with our players, help the organization of our program, and continue to push us forward."

Prior to coming to the triad, Lee served as an assistant coach at Marist College. Lee worked for head coach Mike Maker where he assisted in recruiting, player development, and on court coaching for the Red Foxes.

Lee got his start in coaching at his alma mater, University of Michigan, where he served as the program's administrative specialist before being promoted to Director of Program Personnel. He graduated from Michigan in 2008 with a degree in political science and got his master's degree in public policy in 2010.

Lee played two years for the Wolverines and head coach John Beilein after transferring from Manhattan College. Lee was a co-captain and starter on the 2009 NCAA Tournament team at Michigan, their first trip back to the tournament in 10 seasons.

Lee is married to Dr. Jocelyn R. Smith Lee, an assistant professor in Human Development and Family Studies at UNCG. They have a daughter, Cypress Rose.
