Rod Jensen is in his fifth season as an assistant men's basketball coach at UNC Greensboro. Jensen, 55, was promoted to the position of Associate Head Coach in July 2006.

Jensen has served previously as an assistant coach at Virginia, as both an assistant and a head coach at Boise State, and as an assistant at Penn State and the University of Redlands.

Jensen was an assistant on Pete Guillen's staff at Virginia during the 2002-03 and 2003-04 seasons. During that time, Jensen helped the Cavaliers to a pair of NIT appearances.

At Boise State, Jensen served as an assistant coach from 1983-95 before assuming the head coaching duties for seven seasons. During his 19 seasons as an assistant and a head coach in Boise, the Broncs earned three NCAA Tournament bids and three NIT berths.

His Boise State teams were always known for great defense, ranking in the Top 15 nationally in scoring defense four consecutive seasons while he was an assistant and ranking in the Top 25 in that category twice during his seven seasons as head coach. His teams faced Mike Dement's SMU squads several times when both were members of the Western Athletic Conference.

"Rod is an experienced coach who brings a lot to our program," said Dement. "His teams at Boise State were among the toughest I faced in the WAC. He has an excellent reputation on the defensive end of the floor."

During Jensen's time as the head coach at Boise State, he compiled a 109-93 mark, including a 21-8 mark in 1998-99 when the Broncos won the Big West Conference's East Division title.

A 1975 graduate of University of Redlands, Jensen is married to the former Brenda Johnson and has four grown children - Kate, Emily, Nicole and Tucker. The couple resides in Greensboro.
