Prior to UNCG: Played four years of soccer at Wharton HS and spent two years on the track team as a pole vaulter... team won the state championship in 2008 and he was named the tournament's MVP... missed all of his senior season due to injury...

Personal: Joseph William Layton... born June 10, 1991 in Tampa, Fla. ... son of Tom and Melissa Layton... played his club soccer for RSL Florida... helped his squad to the 2008 Jefferson Cup, the SUM Cup title and was part of the roster that went to the Trofoe Quixote Tournament in Madrid, Spain as part of the U17 World Championships... has not yet chosen a major at UNCG.
