Trent Dunahoo

Trent Dunahoo joined the Spartan staff in January 2023 as an assistant coach, was elevated to interim head coach in February 2026, and promoted to head coach in March 2026. 

During the past three seasons, Dunahoo has helped the team achieve nine Southern Conference (SoCon) Player of the Week accolades and three All-SoCon selections. During the 2025 season, UNCG went 17-12 overall and had a 9-7 mark in the SoCon, securing the program's first winning season since 2021. The team also secured its first SoCon Tournament Quarterfinal win since 2017 in a 3-1 victory over No. 4 Chattanooga. 

Dunahoo came to UNCG after a year and a half as the assistant beach volleyball coach for the University of Alabama Birmingham (UAB). He coached UAB's 1's pair to the first-ever All-Conference first team selection in program history and the 2's pair to first team All-Tournament at the 2022 C-USA Championship. He also was nominated for AVCA National Assistant Coach of the Year.
 
Prior to his first collegiate coaching job, Dunahoo was a graduate manager at the University of Georgia in 2019-20, assisting the coaching staff in player development and program growth. He contributed to the Bulldogs’ first NCAA Tournament appearance in six years and first 20-win season since 1997. In 2020, Dunahoo volunteered with the Women's Canadian National Volleyball Team. 
 
From 2018-21, Dunahoo was the Club Volleyball Master Coach with the Metro Volleyball Club in Athens, Georgia. Following his second year of service, Dunahoo was promoted to master coach, providing leadership to 12 coaches. He also designed and led practices for two Elite teams and organized the national tournament schedule. He coached a team to a top-10 ranking in the Southern region as well as earned a bid to Nationals. 
 
Dunahoo earned his Bachelor of Business Administration degree in Finance from Georgia in 2019 and continued with the Bulldogs earning his Master of Science in Kinesiology in Sport Management and Policy in 2020. While at Georgia, he was the Georgia Men's Volleyball Club President from 2017-19. 

Dunahoo and his wife Ramey reside in Greensboro.
