Fifth Ranked Clemson Knocks Off Men's Soccer, 3-1

Fabio Tambosi recorded three assists in fifth-ranked Clemson's 3-1 victory over UNC Greensboro in men's soccer on Sunday afternoon at Clemson's Riggs Field.

With the win, Clemson improves to 2-0-1 on the year, while UNCG evens its record at 1-1 on the season.

Clemson scored early in the game. Kenneth Cutler scored the game's first goal off an assist by Tambosi. Both Tambosi and Andre Borges assisted on the Tigers' second goal of the match at the 41:58 mark as Dimelon Westfield scored.

The Tigers took a 3-0 advantage at the 53:21 mark when Chase Hilgenbrinck scored off another assist from Tambosi.

UNCG got on the board at 75:26 when senior Cliff Patterson sent a pass to freshman Egill Atlason who scored from 12 yards out. The goal is Atlason's first of the season and first of his collegiate career.

UNCG will return to the field on Friday, September 13, in the South Florida Classic in Tampa, FL. The Spartans will take on host South Florida. Kickoff is slated for 8 pm. The Spartans will then play Stetson on Sunday, September 15 at noon.
