CONWAY, S.C. – The UNC Greensboro men's soccer team dropped a hard fought 1-0 decision to the 20th ranked Coastal Carolina Chanticleers Saturday night at the CCU Soccer Field in the 2003 season opener.

The lone goal of the match, netted at the 42-minute mark, was a give-and-go from Mubarike Chisoni to Joseph Ngwenya and back to Chisoni, who sent the ball into the net past UNCG keeper Jay Benfield.

In a physical game on both sides of the ball, Coastal managed five shots in the first period and only three in the second. The Spartans tallied three shots in the first half of play and recorded seven in the last 45 minutes of play.

Coastal keeper Andy Paxton captured the win and the shutout, grabbing five saves, while Joe Crump and Benfield split time in the net for the Spartans. Crump recorded one save before leaving the match just before the Chants' goal, and Benfield grabbed a save during the duration of the match.

UNCG returns to the pitch September 3 at High Point. Kickoff is slated for 7 pm
