GREENSBORO, NC – Wake Forest scored twice in the first half en route to a 3-1 victory over UNC Greensboro in women's college soccer action Friday night at UNCG Soccer Stadium.
"I'm very proud of our team's effort in the second half," said head coach Eddie Radwanski. "We opened the game well, but made a couple mental errors in the first half that lead to their two goals. We made a great effort in the second half controlling the ball."
Freshman Taylor Toombs got the Deacons on the board first at the 32:48 mark when she broke away from the Spartan defense and from 15 yards away chipped it over the head of the UNCG goalkeeper.
Wake Forest (5-1-1) would answer again less than three minutes later on a goal by sophomore Sarah Kozey off an assist by Melanie Schneider at the 35:06 mark.
The Deacs added an insurance goal at the 62:04 mark when freshman Eilzabeth Remy headed in a goal off assists from A.B. Robbins and Toombs.
UNCG (2-3-2) got its only goal of the match at the 69:05 mark when sophomore Dacia Beachum headed in a cross from Cheryl Stewart.
UNCG will next take on The Citadel on Wednesday, Sept. 24, at 7 p.m., at the UNCG Soccer Stadium. Wake Forest will move on to face California Friday, Sept. 26, in Colorado Springs, CO.
