GREENSBORO, NC – The battle for a share of first place in the Southern Conference women's soccer standings between UNC Greensboro and Chattanooga ended  in a 1-1 draw on Sunday at UNCG Soccer Stadium.

The tie turned UNCG's 13-game home winning streak against SoCon opponents into a 14-game unbeaten streak. UNCG last lost to a SoCon opponent at home on Oct. 27, 2002, when it lost to Furman, 5-2. During the streak UNCG has defeated every Southern Conference school at UNCG Soccer Stadium at least once with the exception of Chattanooga.

UNCG, unbeaten in its last five games (4-0-1), is now 9-4-1 overall and 5-1-1 in SoCon play. Chattanooga's standing was likely hurt worse by the tie, having already played one more league game than the other three teams atop the SoCon. The Mocs are now 10-3-1 overall and 5-2-1 in SoCon action. The duo entered Sunday's action tied atop the SoCon with Furman and Davidson, which both had 5-1-1 marks entering play on Sunday.

UNCG got the scoring started 6:11 into the contest when Jessica Patterson scored off of a corner kick sequence. Rakel Logadottir started the play with the corner kick. Amy Carnell's header off of Logadottir hit was knocked down by a defender before Patterson banged home the rebound for her second goal of the season.

UNCG controlled play for much of the first half, holding a 12-4 advantage in shots.

Chattanooga, however, tied the game at 73:18 when Susan Ward scored from nine yards out. Megan Chismark dribbled down the right sideline and lofted a cross into the box, which found Ward open in front of the goal. She chipped it into the net to tie the score, 1-1.

UNCG outshot the Mocs, 22-12, for the game and held a 7-1 advantage in corner kicks.

The Spartans will travel to Johnson City, TN to take on East Tennessee State on Thursday beginning at 7 p.m.
