BUIES CREEK, N.C. - Cruz Oronos scored early and Sven Picton scored late as UNC Greensboro topped Campbell, 2-0, in men's soccer action Wednesday night.
Oronos scored in 17th minute, while Picton scored with 2:15 to play as the Spartans (2-4-1) extended their unbeaten streak against the Camels to 11 straight meetings. Campbell (1-5-0) hasn't beaten UNCG since 1994. The Spartans are 10-0-1 in that span.
At 16:28, Mack fed Oronos, who hit a blast from 30 yards out into the upper left corner for his first goal this season. Oronos nearly had another three minutes later, if not for a kick save by Campbell's Ryan Amons.
UNCG got the insurance goal it was looking for, however, with 2:15 to play. Freshman A.J. Nelson dribbled into the left side of the box and played a ball in front to Picton, who one-timed it home for his first goal of the season.
Redshirt freshman Peyton Ford recorded the shutout with four saves in goal for UNCG. Campbell had a 15-13 advantage in shots.
It was the first time in the regular season that UNCG had scored more than one goal in a match. The Spartans handed head coach Michael Parker career win No. 490 in the process, the exact same number of wins that the program has recorded, as well.
UNCG returns home Saturday night at face Charlotte for Homecoming. Game time is set for 7 p.m.
