Women's Soccer Set for Key Road Trip at WCU & ETSU

GREENSBORO, N.C. – The UNCG women's soccer team is ready for two key road Southern Conference games this weekend starting with Western Carolina Friday, Oct. 17 at 7 p.m. in Cullowhee, N.C. The Spartans end the road swing with ETSU Sunday, Oct. 19 at 1 p.m. in Johnson City, Tenn.

Currently, Mercer leads the conference with 14 points (4-0-2) with Samford in second place with 12 points (4-1). ETSU is third (4-2) and the Spartans are in a tie for fourth at 3-1-1. UNCG holds a 15-3-2 record against Western Carolina and is 10-0 versus ETSU all-time.

The Spartans (7-5-3, 3-1-1 SoCon) went 1-1 last weekend earning a 9-0 win against Chattanooga and suffered a 1-0 loss to Samford. The Bulldogs ended UNCG's seven game unbeaten streak after scoring a late goal to jump to second place in the SoCon.

Junior Chesney White (Franklin, Tenn./Franklin) scored her first career hat-trick against Chattanooga, upping her season total to 13 goals. White leads the team with 30 points (13 goals, four assists) and 66 shots. She also is fifth in the nation in three categories, including total goals (13), game-winning goals (five) and points (30).

Classmate Candice Forbes (Pleasant Garden, N.C./Southeast Guilford) is second on the team with a career-best four goals and one assist.
Junior Tracy Wolf (Cincinnati, Ohio/Anderson) scored two goals against the Mocs and has scored all three of her goals against conference opponents.

Redshirt freshman goalkeeper Chloe Buehler (Perrysburg, Ohio/Perrysburg/Penn State) has played in 13 games while junior Kirsten Glad (Germantown, Md./St. John's College) has played in six. Buehler has two shutouts, 59 saves and Glad has 21 saves with a 0.81 goals against average.

Western Carolina is 6-5-4 with a 3-2-1 conference record after going 1-1 last weekend against The Citadel (W, 3-1) and Mercer (L, 1-0). Caitlyn Bradham leads the team with four goals and two assists. Courtney Rosu and Chandler Arrowood each have three goals apiece. In goal, Carly Tinstman has started all 15 games with 45 saves and a stellar 0.85 goals against average.

ETSU enters the weekend with a 12-4 overall record and is 4-2 in SoCon action. The Bucs went 1-1 after falling at Mercer 2-1 in double-overtime and earned a 5-3 comeback win at The Citadel. Hannah Short leads the nation in scoring with 20 goals and six assists. Sarah Zadrazill has six goals and 15 assists while Jasmin Dutton has 15 assists also. Jasmine Elliott has started all 15 games in goal making 58 saves with three shutouts.
