Women's Soccer Faces VMI on the road Sunday

GREENSBORO, N.C. – Coming off a 1-0-1 opening weekend in the Southern Conference, the UNCG women's soccer team looks to continue momentum on the road at VMI Sunday at 1 p.m. at Patchin Field.

The Spartans are 5-4-3 and have a 3-0-2 record in their last five matches. The Blue and Gold scored four second half goals to defeat The Citadel, 4-1 last Sunday and earned a 1-1 draw in double-overtime at Mercer.

Junior Chesney White (Franklin, Tenn./Franklin) continues to lead the team with nine goals (11^th in the nation) and two assists for 20 points. Classmate Candice Forbes (Pleasant Garden, N.C./Southeast Guilford) is second with three goals and Katherine Rodriguez (Franklin, Tenn./Father Ryan) scored two goals at The Citadel.

Junior goalkeeper Kirsten Glad (Germantown, Md./St. John's College) picked up the victory against the Bulldogs making a season-high 10 saves. Redshirt freshman goalkeeper Chloe Buehler (Perrysburg, Ohio/Perrysburg/Penn State) played all 110-minutes against Mercer last weekend making a season-best 13 saves.

The Keydets enter the contest with a 2-8-1 record and are 1-1 in the SoCon. VMI defeat The Citadel, 3-2, last weekend to earn its first conference victory since joining this season. Nicole Blixt leads the team with two goals and two assists. Kirsten Hancock has made 24 saves in net for VMI.
