Women's Soccer Faces Army in GOLD OUT

GREENSBORO, N.C. – Coming off a dramatic road win, the UNCG women's soccer team returns home to face Army Friday, Aug. 29 at 6 p.m. as part of a doubleheader with the men's soccer team.

The Spartans (1-2) will play the Black Knights at 6 p.m. followed by the season-opener for men's soccer at 8 p.m. against Campbell.

The first 100 fans will receive a free Go Gold T-shirt and the team will be raffling off a couple of items with the proceeds donated to the American Childhood Cancer organization. Please visit the official UNCG women's soccer donation page here. 
Also during both games the merchandise table will be selling UNCG gear and is planning to have a “Fire Sale” that includes plenty of discounts.

UNCG enters the game after defeating Liberty 1-0 on the road Tuesday night thanks to a late goal from junior Chesney White (Franklin, Tenn./Franklin). Redshirt freshman goalkeeper Chloe Buehler (Perrysburg, Ohio/Perrysburg/Penn State) picked up her first shutout making three saves. Buehler has been stellar in goal for the Spartans making 13 saves in four games.

White leads the team with one goal and 11 shots while freshman Hannah Hoeksema (Auckland, New Zealand/Avondale College) is second with five shots.

Army is coming off a 2-1 victory at home against St. John's Monday night. Junior Bailey Widman scored twice to give the Black Knights the victory. In their season opener, Army fell to Fairfield 1-0 as Jordan Cassalia has started both games in net making 12 saves.

At every UNCG women's soccer game there will be soccer inflatables with various activities for all ages. Also at every Friday game this season one lucky fan has a chance to win a prize pack simply by tweeting a picture of themselves @UNCGWSoccer with the #letsgoG included in the tweet. The contestants will be chosen at random and the winner will be announced at halftime of the game. Finally one lucky youth team will be invited out to each home women's soccer game.
