GREENSBORO, N.C.- The UNCG women's soccer team is set to host The Citadel (1-15) Sunday afternoon at the UNCG Soccer Stadium. The Spartans improved to 6-8-3 overall and jumped to fourth in the Southern Conference standings Friday night with a 1-0 victory over Mercer. UNCG is 4-2-1 in the league and tied with ETSU and Furman with 13 points apiece.
Fans can tune in to the SoCon Digital Network for live video and play-by-play form the voice of UNCG soccer, Parker Southern.
Sunday's match marks the 15th meeting between the two squads dating back to 2001. UNCG is 14-0 all-time having never lost a match to the Bulldogs. The Spartans are 7-0 at home in the series and have not hosted The Citadel since a 2-1 win in 2012.
Caylin Prillaman (High Point, N.C./Wesleyan Christian Academy) scored for the second time in a three-game span Friday night for the Spartans lone goal against Mercer. Prillaman has three goals this season with an assist to rank third on the UNCG squad in points. Candice Forbes (Pleasant Garden, N.C./Southeast Guilford) leads the team with nine points while Chesney White (Franklin, Tenn./Franklin) has a team-best four goals this season.
The Citadel is 0-6 in SoCon action and looking for its first win. The Bulldogs have scored just one goal in league action while allowing 23 goals against to other SoCon opponents. The Citadel has been shutout in 13 of its 16 matches this season and is on a seven-match SoCon losing streak dating back to November 1, 2014.
