GREENSBORO, N.C. – The UNCG baseball team takes a quick break from Southern Conference play Tuesday, hosting Wake Forest to complete the home and home season series at the UNCG Baseball Stadium. First pitch is scheduled for 6 p.m.
In the season's first meeting on March 4, the Demon Deacons took an 11-7 victory at the Wake Forest Baseball Park in Winston-Salem.
The Spartans enter the contest with a 13-15 overall record after winning one of three at Southern Conference opponent Samford over Easter Weekend. WFU is 21-13 following an ACC series victory at home over Boston College.
Senior outfielder Zac MacAneney leads a UNCG offense that is hitting .278 collectively as he is batting .347 in 25 appearances. He is one of six Spartans hitting .304 or better. Seniors Hunter King and Aaron Wright pace the squad with five home runs apiece as the Blue and Gold owns 30 as a team.
Wake Forest checks in sixth nationally in batting average with a .315 mark as Will Craig sits ninth at .422. A total of 11 Demon Deacon batters have hit a home run with Craig leading the way with 11 long balls.
UNCG will send freshman RHP Chad Sykes (0-0, 13.50) to the mound against Wake Forest freshman RHP Andrew Loepprich (0-0, 3.72).
The Demon Deacons lead the all-time series by a 39-12 count. The Spartans have won two of the last three meetings after sweeping the season series in 2014.
Following Tuesday's game, UNCG remains at home this weekend for a three-game Southern Conference series against Furman.
