Box Score GREENSBORO, N.C.- The UNCG softball team (8-7) snapped a two-game losing streak Friday night with an 8-4 win over Rutgers (3-12) at the UNCG Softball Stadium. Rebecca Kale (Hudson, N.C./South Caldwell) hit her first career home run to give the Spartans a 3-1 advantage in the bottom of the second, a lead in which they would never concede.
Stephanie Bryden (Orlando, Fla./East River) earned the start for UNCG and three the first three innings allowing three runs, two earned, on three hits while striking out one batter. Southern Conference Pitcher of the Week Alicia Bazonski (Sheffield, Mass./Mount Everett) tossed the final four innings after Bryden walked the first two batters in the top of the fourth. Bazonski earned her third win of the season for UNCG allowing one run on four hits.
UNCG tallied 12 hits in the win with the four Spartans tallying multi-hit games. Lindsay Thomas (Irvine, Calif./Northwood) returned to the Spartans lineup Friday and went two-for-four at the plate driving in two runs.
Danielle Vega (Rialto, Calif./Aquinas) also recorded a pair of hits as she has now reached base safely in all 15 games for UNCG this season. Tory Wright (Potomac Falls, Va./Dominion) and Sydney Grkman (Salisbury, N.C./Jesse Carson) combined to go four-for-six in the six and seven spot of the Spartans lineup. The duo accounted for four of UNCG's runs that crossed the plate while Grkman drove in her third run of the season in the third inning.

UNCG returns to action, Saturday, March 5, for a double header in the second day of the annual Spartan Classic. The Spartans face Rutgers at 2:30 p.m. and then will have a quick turn around for first pitch against Brown immediately following.
