Men's Basketball Looks To Continue Home Winning Streak On Wednesday Night

GREENSBORO, N.C. – Back on home court to begin a three-game stretch in Greensboro to close out non-conference play, UNC Greensboro men's basketball on Wednesday night will host Coppin State.

Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m. and the game will be streamed on ESPN3.

Five Facts To Know

--The Spartans will be looking to extend their home winning streak to 14 games on Wednesday night. In UNCG's 111-33 victory over Greensboro College on Nov. 27, the Spartans set a new program record for consecutive home victories at 13. The streak is currently tied with LSU, Tulsa, Tennessee and Murray State for the sixth longest in Division I play.

--Senior guard Francis Alonso has continued a hot start on the offensive side of the court, as the Malaga, Spain, native has scored at least 15 points in all 10 games so far this year. He is the only player for UNCG to hit double-digits in scoring in every game this season as well. Additionally, he has been smart when the ball is in his hands, ranking as the seventh-most efficient player in terms of points per possession (1.21).

--Senior guard Demetrius Troy (127) is just four steals away from cracking the top 10 in program history for career steals. Troy this season has recorded a steal in seven of 10 games, including a four-steal performance against Johnson & Wales along with three steals against both Greensboro College and Kentucky.

--This year's squad will look to keep pace with the 1994-95 team that jumped out to a 12-2 start. At 8-2 right now, the Spartans this year are tied for the best start through 10 games in program history.

--Coppin State enters the game hungry for a victory, as the Eagles are currently 0-11 on the season with all 11 losses coming by double-digits. They have already faced a Southern Conference team this season, falling to Wofford 99-65 on Nov. 21.

The Spartans In 2018

UNCG (8-2) got back to its winning ways on Friday night against Elon at the Schar Center, but it wasn't easy as the Spartans had to count on a basket from Troy with 11 seconds left to score a 75-74 victory. It was the Spartans' first game this season decided by a five points or less.

UNCG is now 5-0 against schools within the state of North Carolina and 8-2 for just the second time in program history.

The Spartans have been led offensively by Alonso, who is averaging 19.4 points per game while sophomore guard Isaiah Miller (13.2) and junior forward Kyrin Galloway (13.0) are also averaging double digits in scoring.

Miller also leads the team in steals with 27. His 2.70 steals per game is currently tied for the ninth-most in the country.
