Men's Basketball Closing Out Non-Conference Play Against Radford

GREENSBORO, N.C. – UNC Greensboro men's basketball will close out non-conference play when the Spartans host Radford this Tuesday at the Greensboro Coliseum.

Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m. and the game will be streamed on ESPN+.

Five Facts To Know

--The Spartans on Saturday set a new program record for non-conference victories (10) since transitioning to the Division I level during the 1991-92 season and eventually joined the Big South before moving to the Southern Conference.

--UNCG is also in the midst of a program-record 15 game home winning streak after the Spartans knocked off North Alabama on Saturday. The Spartans join South Dakota State, Houston, College of Charleston, Utah Valley, Montana, Buffalo and Nebraska as the only teams in the country that have won at least 15 straight home games.

--Senior guard Demetrius Troy (129) is just two steals away from cracking the top 10 in program history for career steals. Troy this season has recorded a steal in nine of 12 games, including a four-steal performance against Johnson & Wales along with three steals against both Greensboro College and Kentucky.

--Senior guard Francis Alonso on Monday was named SoCon Player of the Week by College Sports Madness, as he was instrumental in UNCG's victory over North Alabama. Alonso scored 16 points against Coppin State before totaling 14 against North Alabama with clutch buckets down the stretch.

--While Radford enters the game on a three-game losing streak, the Highlanders have already proven capable of pulling off big wins this season. During the month of November, Radford knocked off Notre Dame before defeating No. 17 Texas for the program's first victory over a ranked team. Carlik Jones leads the team in scoring at 16.3 points per game while Ed Polite Jr. is nearly averaging a double-double on the year at 12 points and 9.6 rebounds per contest.

The Spartans In 2018

UNCG (10-2) has gotten off to one of the best starts in program history, as this is only the second time the Spartans have won 10 of their first 12 games. At home, UNCG has outscored opponents 420-258 in five games, highlighted by a 78-point victory over Greensboro College. That was the largest margin of victory in program history.

While the Spartans were unable to hang onto a halftime lead over then-No. 10 Kentucky to begin the month of December, UNCG has since won its last three games.

Alonso leads the team in scoring (18.7) while sophomore guard Isaiah Miller (13.0) and junior forward Kyrin Galloway (11.3) are also averaging double digits in scoring.

Series History

This will be the 11th all-time meeting between the two schools, but the first since they were Big South foes. The last time the two schools shared a court took place on Feb. 26, 1997.

The Spartans hold a 6-4 advantage in the series and have won all four meetings between the two schools during regular season action in Greensboro.

Upcoming For The Spartans

The Spartans will begin Southern Conference play on Saturday when UNCG faces Samford in Birmingham, Ala. Tip-off for the game is scheduled for 3 p.m.
