Box Score GREENSBORO, N.C. – UNC Greensboro softball (21-12) defeated NC State (20-16) 2-1 Wednesday evening at UNCG Softball Stadium. Stephanie Bryden (15-6) threw a complete game with 12 strikeouts and just one run, four hits and no walks allowed.
Hannah Kincer knocked in the game-winning run on a two-out RBI-double to centerfield that brought home Bryden, who led off with a walk and advanced on a wild pitch and fly out by Melanie Darges.
The Spartans scored the game's first run in the previous inning. Makenna Matthijs was hit by a pitch with one out and advanced two bases on a wild pitch and passed ball. Marisa Sholtes hit a two-out RBI-single to left field.
NC State tied the game up the next inning with a leadoff homer to right field.
UNCG returns to action with its second-straight road Southern Conference road series with Furman that starts with a doubleheader Saturday at 1 p.m.
