GREENSBORO, N.C. – UNCG men's basketball's senior class of Kyrin Galloway, Malik Massey and James Dickey collected the 100th win of their careers on Sunday, defeating visiting Samford by a 95-67 margin.
The Spartans started the night on a 12-3 run, hitting their first four shots on the evening. The home team would lead by 11 at the midway point of the half, before a 15-2 UNCG run put the score at 38-19 in favor of the Spartans. UNCG continued to increase their advantage down the stretch, eventually taking a 49-30 lead into the break.
The Spartans combined for seven three-pointers in the first half, with four of those coming by the hand of senior forward Kyrin Galloway. The Milton, Ga. native had three blocks in the opening 20 minutes alone. 15 of the Spartans' 25 first half rebounds came on the offensive boards, with Samford collecting a combined 13 rebounds on the offensive and defensive sides of the floor.
UNCG scored 19 of the first 27 points of the second half, taking as much as a 30-point lead before the 10-minute mark. The Spartans' dominance on the glass continued to hinder the visiting Bulldogs, as the hosts tallied another nine offensive rebounds in the final 20 minutes, while outscoring Samford 46-37.Â
James Dickey pulled down eight rebounds in the second half to give the senior a total of 16 on the evening. With 13 points, Dickey completed the 17th double-double of his career, while fellow senior Galloway recorded a team-high of 19 in the Spartans' 95-67 win.Â
