UNCG Softball Plays Three Against Nearby Elon

GREENSBORO, N.C.  – UNCG softball opens the weekend on a road doubleheader against nearby Elon this Saturday, before coming home for a Sunday finale against the Phoenix inside UNCG Softball Stadium. The Spartans are coming off a 3-1 week at the Spartan Classic, while the Phoenix went 2-2 at last week's Liberty Softball Classic.

Series History
-- The Spartans are 44-38-2 against the Phoenix all-time and have won five of their last six against the side
-- UNCG swept the Phoenix in last year's three-game series, outscoring Elon 14-1. Kylie Bouplon and Stephanie Bryden each tallied complete game shutouts over that weekend

-- Freshman pitcher Morgan Scott earned SoCon Pitcher of the Month honors for February after tossing five complete games and a pair of shutouts against Virginia and Oakland. She's already tossed another complete game in March
-- Kayleigh Willis leads the conference with six homers on the year, putting her 44th in the country. She currently has a team-high 15 RBI on the year
-- The Spartans are first in the SoCon and 26th in the country with 1.18 home runs per contest. After Willis' six, Delaney Cumbie, Samantha Lagrama, Makenna Matthijs and Hannah Kincer each have three long balls on the season
-- Scott also leads the Southern Conference with 76 strikeouts, placing her 35th in Division I softball, she recorded a career-high of 13 against App State this past Sunday
-- The Spartans' doubleheader at Elon will be just their second and third true road contests of 2020, they are 7-2 at home and 4-3 in neutral contests, but 0-1 when playing as the visitor

The Phoenix
-- Senior lefty Kenna Quinn is one of the strongest pitchers in the CAA, with her 1.05 ERA ranking first in the conference and 33rd in Division I
-- Sophomore Megan White has delivered an impressive OPS of 1.294 over the course of the season, her on base percentage (.500), slugging percentage (.794) and RBI total (14) are all team bests
