UNCG Drops 2-0 Decision to Furman

GREENVILLE, S.C. – The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) women's soccer team suffered a 2-0 loss to Furman University Sunday afternoon at Stone Stadium in Southern Conference (SoCon) play.

Records
UNCG: 3-6-6, 2-3-2 SoCon
Furman: 8-5-1, 4-3-0 SoCon

How it Happened:
  • 1:21 – Kyndal Anderson put the Paladins on the board heading a long cross from Camryn Bolick to the back right corner. Bolick was about 35 yards out and placed the ball just outside the six-yard box for Anderson's goal.
  • 55:32 – The Spartans looked to clear the ball in their defensive third, but the Paladins' Nieva Gaither stole it away spinning and striking it from just outside the 18-yard box putting Furman ahead, 2-0.
By the Numbers
  • Senior goalkeeper Aiyanah Tyler-Cooper recorded four saves, bringing her career total to 343.
  • The Spartans outshot the Paladins, 16-15. Furman was called for 10 fouls to UNCG's nine.
  • The series is now tied between the two teams, 17-17-3.
From the Coaches' Box/Michael Coll, Head Women's Soccer Coach
On the Game
"Not a good performance from us at all. We basically gave them two goals. We can't come to a team like Furman and give them two goals and expect a result."
On final two games at home
"I think home field advantage in sport does not exist. I think most teams we play get more excited to play on our field than we do."

Pink Game
On Friday, October 1, the Spartans hosted VMI and sported bright pink socks and recognized and remembered those who have passed, are currently battling, and who are in remission from cancer.
