DURHAM, N.C. – UNC Greensboro (UNCG) softball traveled to Durham, North Carolina on Sunday for a single game against Duke University, where the Blue Devils won 4-1.
In a rematch of the Spartans' first NCAA Tournament game last year, UNCG got on board first on Sunday. Graduate student
Jordan Gontram led off the game with a single and junior
Blayke Batten moved sophomore
Tori Dalehite, who pinch ran for Gontram, over to third with a double to left center. Dalehite scored on a ground ball to second by freshman Grace Loftin.
Duke tied the game in the bottom of the second and then took the lead in the bottom of the fifth. The two teams went on to play the bottom of the seventh and the Blue Devils extended their lead with back-to-back homeruns, 4-1.

Makenna Matthijs, Gontram, and senior
Hannah Kincer each recorded a walk in the game.
Freshman Reese Byrd got the start for the Spartans and gave up just one run in her five innings and senior
Samantha Lagrama threw out two baserunners from behind the plate.

The Spartans will wrap up their fall season with a doubleheader on Sunday, October 24. UNCG will play Greensboro College at 11:00 a.m. and will face Catawba College at 1:30 a.m. at UNCG Softball Stadium.
